Giving employees discounts and coupons in exchange for info on their eating and food buying habits sounds like a good way to encourage healthful behavior, but this is what happens when NobodyisFlyingthePlane.
The problem with this type of program is that it is none of the employers’ business what employee health habits are. The only reason there is even a pretense of interest is the link to the company’s healthcare expenses. The problem starts with employers providing healthcare.
If somebody was flying the plane they would see the big picture. Employment and health insurance should have no relationship to each other. Until we resolve that issue we will continually be faced with an erosion of our privacy and our rights.
