Friedman shares a grand scheme for setting our energy policy as a tool to fight Putin in Ukraine. Its just these sort of forward thinking grand compromises which have been lost in the current climate of black and white party politics.
When he suggested going forward with the Keystone Pipeline I thought he had gone crazy, but the Rube Goldberg nature of his suggestion makes perfect sense in the long run. Each party gets something it wants and the American (and perhpas Ukrainian) people will be better off for it in the long run.
